It’s for the Kids
“It’s for the kids”
And it always should be
Hockey is one of the most pure forms of the human experience. The sound of blades sheering through the ice, the brisk air coursing through your lungs, the cold tummy and the numb toes. Those who grew up in a hockey town in the state of hockey know what I mean. With hometown rivalries so engrained in the livelihood of these frozen cities, we find our selves in Minnesota. With 7,432 NHL alumni and active players in the NHL, hockey stick wielding kids around the state know just how special this opportunity is. From Warroad and Roseau to Edina in the south and Duluth east in the north. There are Iron range classics and Suburb shakedowns to be seen all over the state.
To the kids reading this section……
I want you, the kids to have a place to share your story. A place to show the world why you deserve a shot, a listen or the opportunity to share your love for the game.
From these great battles between goliaths, there is always a loser. Someone where it all ends too soon. Maybe they get back up and learn from their mistakes or they have played their last truly competitive game of hockey. The kids who were forged from the ponds and brotherhood feel what I am saying. This sport becomes a part of us and some of us can’t let it go because the game shaped us into who we are today.
The amount of talent that gets buried during section playoffs from year to year is an atrocity to the game. The goal of the mucker is to shine a spotlight on the un-believable talent around the state that do not find their way to the tourney at the end of the year.
life changing that their memories contend with
“At the end of the year there is only one winner”
